The Warehouse Centre is a unique, bold and dynamic ‘social enterprise’, that opened in 1994 in response to a vision that was adopted by local Christians, for a youth & community resource that would provide a place for young people who had ‘nowhere to go and nothing to do’.

The Centre has been widely acclaimed for the facilities and activities provided which have been constantly improved, as funds have permitted, for the benefit of the community. The Warehouse Centre, including Rayleigh MegaZone, MegaPlay, the Music Rooms and the Creative Arts Theatre, is owned by a registered charity, ACT (Active Christian Trust). All the net income generated from the various activities is re-invested to further develop and improve the Centre as a community resource.

Much of the Centre is run by volunteers, both from local churches and the wider community, especially the popular S-Kape Youth Centre. The full-time, qualified youth workers are, however, also funded largely from income generated by the various Centre activities.

The aims of ACT are to :

    Create opportunities for young people

Work in partnership with the community

Provide quality leisure, sport and cultural facilities

Help young people develop trusting relationships in a safe, non-judgmental and

    caring environment

The vision for The Warehouse Centre started on 3rd April 1992 and the first phase opened on 2nd April 1994. The freehold of the premises was purchased in April 2000 following an amazing appeal to the community which saved the future of Centre.

MegaPlay is the most recent new facility to open together with the new Café.
